Manna was a poor but kind girl. One day, she was playing in the garden when she saw a little bird with a broken wing. Manna took it home and nursed it till it was strong enough to fly. The bird thanked Manna and gave her a seed. It said, "This is a magical seed. Plant it and see what happens!"
Manna planted the seed and watered it every day. In a few days, a huge watermelon grew out of it. When the watermelon was ripe, Manna cut it open. She found lots of pretty toys in it! She was overjoyed.
Manna's neighbour Merry was jealous to see so many new toys. She said to Manna, “You are so poor. Who gave you these toys? I am sure you stole them.”
A lamb was grazing along with a flock of sheep. She saw fresh green grass growing at the edge of the field. Leaving the flock behind, she went to graze on the sweet grass. A wicked wolf had been eyeing her. As soon as she came close enough, he pounced on her.
